Two pages of a printable Airbnb guest book template: a welcome page with six prompts and an entry page filled in by a family from Austin

Free printable template

Three pages: the welcome page, the entry page and the QR code cards. Free to print and share.

Our free Airbnb guest book template is a three-page PDF you can print at home: a welcome page with six prompts, an entry page with room for two groups of guests, and a card for a QR code. Download it in US Letter or A4, print as many entry pages as you need and keep them in a binder on the coffee table.

Letter is the paper size in the US, Canada and the Philippines, and most other countries use A4, as Wikipedia’s page on Letter paper explains. If your printer tray holds 8.5 by 11 inch paper, take the Letter file.

What is on each page

Page 1: the welcome page

A line for the name of your place, a short note to your guests and six numbered questions for anyone who freezes at a blank page, from “Where did you travel from?” to “What would you come back for?” At the bottom there is a line where you sign as the hosts. Print it once and put it at the front of the binder.

Page 2: the entry page

Two entries per page. Each one has a line for the names, one for where the guests came from and one for the dates of the stay, then six lines for a message (seven on A4) and a separate space for a tip for the next guests.

That tip space is the part hosts end up loving. Over a season it fills with advice you could never write yourself, like the diner with the best pie or the beach that is quiet after four. Twenty-five copies of this page hold 50 entries, which is roughly a year of weekend stays.

Page 3: QR code cards

Two cards per sheet, each with an empty square for a QR code and a line telling guests to point their phone’s camera at it. Stick a code in the square, cut along the dashed line and put one card in your welcome book and the other by the door.

How to print and bind it

Use thick paper so the ink does not bleed through: 28 lb or 32 lb bond in the US, which Wikipedia’s grammage table puts at about 106 and 121 gsm. In A4 countries, look for paper between 100 and 120 gsm. Print at 100 percent or “actual size” rather than “fit to page”, so the margins stay even.

Punch the pages and keep them in a ring binder, so you can add entry pages as the book fills up. A clear sheet protector keeps the welcome page clean, and a pen tied to the binder with a ribbon stays in the house when the guests leave.

Leave the binder where people sit in the evening, not on the shelf by the door. The last night of a trip is when guests have the time and the mood to write.

Make it yours

The template is made to be filled in by hand. Write the name of your place on the welcome line and sign the bottom, the way “Lena and Mark” did for the cabin in our picture. If one of the questions does not suit your place, cross it out and write your own underneath. Guests tend to answer the handwritten one first.

For more questions to swap in, our guide to the Airbnb guest book vs welcome book has 12 prompts and six sample entries. It also explains why the guest book and the welcome book work better as two separate things.

The online option

A paper book only hears from the people who sit down with it. The QR card on page 3 is for everyone else: guests scan it, write from their phone and read what earlier guests said, even after they have gone home.

We make a free digital Airbnb guest book, so weigh this part with that in mind. You can download your guest book’s QR code from its Share page, print it for the card and reply to each message online. Nothing stops you from keeping both, with the binder on the coffee table and the card by the door.

Quick answers

Is the template free? Yes. Print as many copies as you like for your own rental, and share the link with other hosts.

Can I change the questions? The text is fixed in the PDF, but the welcome page leaves room around the questions. Cross out any you do not want and write your own in the margin, or tape a printed note over one.
